About us

At the core of Wight Hat we are two software developers

Adam Provis (Director / Software Development) (LinkedIn)

After earning a degree in Computer Science and AI at Sussex University in 1995, Adam has worked on embedded software for the automotive industry (Cadillac luxury car division) and ZiLOG semiconductors before starting his own business.

In 2007 he started Wight Hat Ltd. with a move to cloud software developement and interfacing to external equipment and APIs. His experience in embedded software and cloud platforms provides a complete knowledge base for integrating systems over the internet with a seemless and secure methodology.

Asides from working, he is a part time 80s DJ, practices Kung Fu, plays piano and is always found at the local Monday evening pub quiz.

Mike Atkinson (Director / Technical Developer and Support)

Mike joined Wight Hat Ltd. in 2011 after a long career in software development, technical support and engineering within the telecoms and IT industries. He has worked with major organisations including Cable & Wireless, MCI Worldcom, Level 3 Communications, and Digitalk, where he specialised in designing, maintaining, and securing mission-critical systems.

At Wight Hat he focuses on web development, technical problem-solving, and supporting clients with robust and secure solutions. With extensive experience in Linux, Windows, scripting, and database optimisation, Mike ensures Wight Hat’s back end services remain reliable, performant, and secure.

Outside of work, Mike enjoys exploring the Isle of Wight, reading and keeping up with the latest in web technology. Some 30 years after being kicked off stage at an Isle Of Wight musical festival for being awful, Mike still claims to be learning to play the guitar.
